FASTENER
A bolt is a type of threaded fastener that typically consists of a cylindrical shaft with a head on one end and threads on the other end. Bolts are used to join two or more objects together by inserting the threaded end through holes in the objects and securing them with a nut. The head of the bolt provides a surface for applying torque during installation and removal. Bolts come in various sizes, materials, and types, including hex bolts, carriage bolts, and eye bolts, among others. Each type of bolt has specific features and uses, depending on the requirements of the application.
Bolt Type Fastener
Pin Type Fastener:
A pin is a cylindrical or rod-shaped fastener that is typically used to hold objects together or to align components. Unlike bolts, pins do not have threads and do not require nuts. Instead, they rely on friction or other mechanisms to secure the objects. Pins can be inserted through holes in the objects being fastened and may have a head or a retaining mechanism on one end to prevent them from sliding out. Common types of pins include dowel pins, clevis pins, and roll pins, among others. Pins are used in various applications, such as automotive, machinery, and furniture assembly.
Hook Fastener:
A hook fastener is a type of fastening device that consists of a curved or bent metal component with a hook-shaped end. The hook is designed to catch onto or engage with another object, providing a secure connection. Hook fasteners are commonly used in applications where quick and easy attachment and detachment are required. They are often used in clothing, bags, straps, and other similar applications. Hook fasteners can be made from various materials, including metal, plastic, or fabric, and they come in different sizes and designs to suit specific needs.
Wedge Fastener:
A wedge fastener is a type of mechanical fastener used to securely hold two objects together. It operates on the principle of the wedge, which is a simple machine that can be used to amplify force. The basic idea behind a wedge fastener is to insert a piece that tapers to a thin edge between two objects, forcing them apart or holding them together through the mechanical advantage of the wedge shape.
In summary
bolt type fasteners are threaded fasteners used with nuts to join objects together, pin type fasteners are non-threaded rods or cylindrical components used to hold or align objects, and hook fasteners are curved or bent metal components with a hook-shaped end used for quick attachment and detachment. Each type of fastener has its own unique characteristics and applications.
